One2zero publishes new booklet with voices of leading decision -makers: inside from politics, business and science

With the new Zero Emission Booklet 4.0 Put the Salzburg Greenkech company one2zero The contribution of energy storage to supply security and climate neutrality. There are around 20 experts on over 40 pages: inside and decision -makers: Interior from business, science and politics – including Barbara Schmidt (General Secretary of Austria’s energy), Helga Kromp-Kolb (climate researcher and meteorologist) and Bernhard Auinger (Mayor of the City of Salzburg).

Barbara Schmidt emphasizes in the interview:
“We no longer have time for standstill. Storage is not a freestyle, they are the basic condition for security of supply.”

Storage needs increase – potential remain unused

Around 95,000 energy stores are currently installed in Austria – this corresponds to only 0.22 percent of the storage column required throughout Europe. Although 41 percent of domestic energy consumption are covered by renewable sources, only a fraction of it comes from saving. The currently installed capacity is 2.2 GWh. The largest lever is in the commercial area, since industry and companies have so far been significantly behind the expansion of private households.

The pressure to act is also increasing at the European level: According to the current European Market Outlook Vers up to around 400 GWh by 2029. Nevertheless, this level is significantly below the actual need: at least 780 GWh would be required by 2030 to make the European electricity system fit for renewable energies.

Voices from research, economy and politics

The Booklet Shows on the basis of practical examples – for example from DM drugstore market, PwC, Siemens or the Wüstenrot group – How companies use decarbonization measures and storage solutions strategically.

Daniela Strasser, area manager real estate management at dmsays:
“Storage solutions are quite essential to maximize the use of renewable energies.”

Tobias Wiener, CEO & Founder from one2zeroexplained:
“Batteries are the Lego component of the energy transition-they enable central systems to think again decentrally.”

Personalities like World Cup winner Alexandra Meissnitzer also provide insights – for example in decarbonization measures in skiing and in which properties from top sport can support change towards climate neutrality.

In addition to technical aspects, this provides Booklet Also the personal motives of the interview partners: in the foreground – and shows why they work with great commitment to a climate -friendly and just future.

Tanja Graf, deputy to the National Council, entrepreneur and ÖVP Energy spokeswoman, about her motivation:
“I see it as a responsibility towards coming generations. And as an opportunity for Austria to be a flagship for innovation, quality of life and sustainability. If we make the energy transition correctly, we not only strengthen the climate, but also our business location and social cohesion.”

Storage technologies in the upswing – but with hurdles

The range of technologies now ranges from lithium-ion batteries, redox flow stores and heat storage to power-to-gas and long-term storage. Community storage solutions, for example in the context of energy communities, are also becoming more important – but targeted political framework is needed to facilitate investments.

Julia Flath, Energy Engineer Bei Siemenssees the lack of predictability as a central obstacle:
“In my view, the uncertainty and the poor predictability of refinancing such systems are a major hurdle, even if storage technologies are becoming increasingly cheaper. Reasons for this can be the high costs of projects with high system integration, but also volatile and therefore difficult to plan tariffs.”

Florian Kogler, storage expert at Kite Rise Technologiesgets to the point:
“On a scale from 0 to 10, storage technologies are a clear 13. Why is that? The classic answer: Above all, the generation of electricity is becoming increasingly dynamic and this means that we have to temporarily store electricity in order to limit this dynamics and to stabilize the network. On the other hand, you can of course also save a lot of storage needs by adapting the consumption.”

Booklet presentation in front of specialist audience in Vienna

The new Zero Emission Booklet was presented on June 23, 2025 as part of a specialist event in the tap management in the Augarten (Vienna). Representatives: Inside from energy industry, politics and research, system integration, decarbonization and the role of storage in the power grid of the future discussed.
