On World Animal Vaccination Day, veterinarians emphasize the importance of vaccinations for pets and farm animals

Vienna (OTS) “Vaccinations are essential in disease prevention, especially when it comes to controlling diseases and preventing disease transmission between species. A sustainable vaccination program not only protects animals but also people; just think of rabies. Vaccinations can also make a significant contribution to preventing the suffering of animals and extending their lives. For example, they offer protection against the deadly effects of parvovirus in dogs or against the serious health consequences of cat cold in cats. Appropriate vaccinations have not only saved a large number of lives in the past, but will also make a major contribution in the future,” says Veterinary Association President Mag. Kurt Frühwirthon the occasion of “World Animal Vaccination Day”, which is celebrated annually on April 20, 2024.

“Vaccinations are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect the health of our pets and farm animals. They can prevent serious diseases and significantly reduce the risk of outbreaks in the animal population,” emphasizes Frühwirth. World Animal Vaccination Day not only serves to draw attention to the importance of vaccinations, but also to encourage animal owners to do so encourage pets to be vaccinated regularly and to keep their animals’ vaccination status up to date.

“If you have any questions, we veterinarians are happy to be available as contacts. We call on all animal owners to assume their responsibility and ensure that their animals receive the protection they deserve,” concludes Frühwirth.
