Platoon leader Jakob Schubert secures bronze in climbing at the Olympic Games in Paris. The army athlete, who trains at the Army Performance Sports Center in Innsbruck, won the bronze medal, as he did at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo. The six-time world champion Schubert only had to admit defeat to Toby Roberts (GBR) and Sorato Anraku (JPN).

Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “I am very pleased about this great performance by platoon leader Jakob Schubert. With his medal he once again demonstrated his skills and made us all proud. This medal is a well-deserved recognition for his hard training and determination.”

The Army Sports Center has been promoting Austrian competitive sports with its eleven Army competitive sports centers since 1962. Every year, up to 495 people, including 20 in sports for the disabled, are part of the army sports support program. Army sports traditionally provide numerous participants in major sporting events such as the Olympic Games, European and World Championships. The athletes of the Federal Army have already achieved numerous successes and medals for Austria in the past.
