ÖGK newly writes telemedicine
Vienna (OTS) –

On Friday, the Federal Administrative Court declared the tender of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) to expand telemedicine for formal reasons. The ÖGK would like to consistently continue the expansion of telemedicine and will start a new advertisement after careful analysis.

Telemedical care is already a successfully established concept in many countries. This gives patients simple, safe and fast access to medical first consultation via video telephony. In particular, people with slight symptoms benefit in which a first medical assessment is possible and sensible without direct physical contact. This not only relieves the patients, but also saves valuable time and costs in the health system.

The criticism of the court is primarily directed against formal criteria for the tender. It was objected that certain content -related and scope -related framework conditions must be specified in the award document. The possibility of establishing telemedicine as a modern component of the supply was not questioned. The ÖGK will carefully analyze the justification of nullity and take into account accordingly in the new advertisement.

The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) is the largest social health insurance in Austria. It offers its 7.6 million insured persons a medically high -quality supply and comprehensive service from Lake Constance to Lake Neusiedler.
