“The news of Josef Taus’s death is deeply saddening,” said ÖCV President Philipp Stadler-Simbürger. “With him, Austria and the ÖCV are losing an inspiring personality, a passionate defender of our values and a person who always stood up for the greater whole.”
Taus, who came from a humble background and was always socialized as a Catholic, joined the Vienna ÖCV association KaV Bajuvaria as a working student. In addition to his professional activities in the Wiener Zeitung, the Girozentrale, as a politician and as an entrepreneur, his involvement with the Dr. Karl Kummer Institute should be highlighted, which particularly underlines how his heart always beat for social issues. This also continued through his later activities.
“Josef Taus was an example that showed us young people in particular that with hard work and decency, even from humble circumstances, great achievements in life can arise. His social conscience and the sheer diversity of his activities in business, politics and society allow us to remember him as a role model for our own actions. “Our prayers and thoughts are with his family in these difficult hours,” said Stadler-Simbürger.
