In Salzburg, Sunday afternoon, September 8th, drivers in the direction of Germany had to wait for more than two and a half hours between Flachauwinkel andwerfen, the ÖAMTC experts report. Over a distance of around 30 kilometers, progress was slow in sections or the columns came to a standstill. In the extremely dense return traffic, accidents and defective vehicles repeatedly led to traffic jams and delays. Many drove home – as ÖAMTC predicted – “at the last minute”.
