ÖAMTC: Return wave on Epiphany weekend
Vienna (OTS) –

The Epiphany weekend is all about the return journey. The ÖAMTC mobility information recorded heavy traffic towards Germany since the early hours of the morning.

The main area affected in Tyrol was Mieminger Straße (B189), where there was a traffic jam from Tarrenz and subsequently also on Fernpass Straße (B179), where traffic came to a standstill in several places. On the Inntal Autobahn (A12) there were waiting times of around 20 minutes at the Kufstein / Kiefersfelden border point when leaving. In addition to the metal columns heading north, skier traffic was also noticeable in places, for example on the Zillertalstrasse (B169), in front of the Brettfall Tunnel, here traffic heading into the valley was only handled in blocks.

In Vorarlberg, numerous winter sports enthusiasts were on their way to the Montafon, so there was a traffic jam on the Rheintal Autobahn (A14) at the Bludenz-Montafon exit and then there were delays on the Montafoner Straße (L188).

In Salzburg, road users on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) had to be patient in the construction area between Golling andwerfen; it took around thirty minutes longer.

Zwtl.: Club appeals to travelers to plan breaks

On longer journeys, please be sure to plan breaks, advise the ÖAMTC traffic experts. Drowsiness at the wheel is an underestimated risk of accidents. Fresh air and exercise during regular breaks prevents fatigue and gets your circulation going again after sitting in the car for a long time.
