Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia, Styria and Lower Austria affected
Vienna (OTS) – On Sunday too – as the ÖAMTC experts feared – there were traffic jams and sometimes long waiting times on important Austrian main routes.
In Tyrol, the columns stood four kilometers back on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) in front of the Schönberg toll booth in the direction of Innsbruck, and in sections on the entire Fernpass Road (B179) they only continued at walking pace. There were also four kilometers of traffic jams on the Reschenstrasse (B180) in the direction of Pfunds from the Reschenpass.
In Salzburg, accidents and the Golling-Werfen construction site led to kilometer-long traffic jams in both directions, more than 15 kilometers in the direction of Salzburg.
In Carinthia, the Karawanken Tunnel on the Karawanken Autobahn (A11) was closed around midday for more than an hour after an accident, according to the ÖAMTC. After the lockdown was lifted, the journey to Austria took more than one and a half hours.
In Styria, drivers had to be patient for 30 minutes each in front of the Gleinalm Tunnel and in front of the construction site near Kammern to the north.
In Lower Austria, there was a seven-kilometer backlog due to an accident on the southern motorway (A2) near Leobersdorf towards Vienna. On the Vienna outer ring expressway (S1), accidents at the south freight center in the direction of Vösendorf led to kilometre-long traffic jams.
