Numerous traffic jams around holiday resorts
Vienna (OTS) – On the third weekend of the semester break, many holidaymakers were stuck in traffic jams, the ÖAMTC reported on Saturday morning. While it was quite quiet in the east of Austria, there were sometimes considerable traffic jams in the west.
The end of Bavaria’s vacation was particularly noticeable on Austria’s streets. On the way to the Fernpass (B179), there were already traffic jams on the Mieminger Straße (B189) from Tarrenz and Dormitz, while on the Seefelder Straße (B177) vacationers were waiting in sections in front of the Scharnitz border crossing back to Zirl. On many roads the time lost when leaving the ski areas was over an hour, for example in the Zillertal (B169) and the Pass-Thurn Straße (B161) in Tyrol or on the Salzburger (B311) Pinzgauer Straße from Mayerhofen towards Lofer.
At the A10 construction site nearwerfen, the columns were lined up in both directions, and the waiting time was sometimes over an hour, the ÖAMTC reported. You also had to be patient at the Kufstein/Kiefersfelden border crossing, as the journey took around 40 minutes longer than usual.
