As with all new ÖAMTC bases, the focus is also on the sustainable construction in Melk. The main building material of the new building is wood – for the first time, even the entire supporting structure consists 100 percent of this renewable raw material. Sustainable solutions are also used for energy supply: heating and cooling are carried out using brine/water heat pump system with depth probes. In addition, a generous photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, so that the new building will supply itself with energy in the future.

“With 115 bases all over Austria, we provide more than 2.5 million members. It is all the more important for us as a responsible and steady growing organization to pay attention to sustainability and ecological compatibility when expanding our infrastructure,” explains ÖAMTC President Günter Thumser on a sustainable construction.

Alexander Bernhuber, member of the European Parliament, adds: “For almost three decades, the ÖAMTC in the Melk district has been the first point of contact for all questions and needs relating to mobility. With this innovative new building, the club presents another showcase project that strengthens the region sustainably.”
