The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt will take place on the main market from November 29th to December 24th, 2024. The Christkindlesmarkt district in the Nuremberg Quarters web app, a new adventure trail and the continuation of the video series “Nuremberg Originals” are the main focus of the Nuremberg Congress and Tourism Center (CTZ) this year.
Overnight stay numbers for 2023 and outlook for 2024
December 2023 recorded 366,061 overnight stays. Around two thirds of the overnight stays were by national guests and one third by international guests. “The evaluation of the booking portals for December shows a demand for overnight stays of around 70 percent on the Advent weekends,” explains Yvonne Coulin, managing director of the Nuremberg Congress and Tourism Center. “2024 is shaping up to be a busy year overall and we are optimistic about a successful December,” adds Yvonne Coulin.
New adventure trail: Vegan food at the Christmas market
In the stall alleys of the Christkindlesmarkt, hidden special features of the market can be explored on the adventure trails, which are designed as thematic tours. The new adventure trail “Vegans at the Christkindlesmarkt” was developed for the Christkindlesmarkt 2024: This individual tour shows stands that have vegan products in their range and meets the growing demand for plant-based alternatives. Further adventure paths lead to Nuremberg originals, culinary and regional specialties, individual licensed products from the market and unique gift ideas. The routes of the adventure trails are available for download as PDFs on the website christkindlesmarkt.de.
Two new videos from the “Nuremberg Originals” series
The CTZ and the Nuremberg markets are continuing their video series “Nuremberg Originals”. This year the focus at the market is on Nuremberg bratwurst as well as traditional and modern handicrafts. Produced by Jacco Kliesch, the videos offer an insight into the craftsmanship and the personal stories of the dealers. Insights into the plum manufactory and gingerbread production have already been published. The videos will be available from the start of the market via the Christmas market’s social media channels and website.
Christmas market district
This year, the Christkindlesmarkt can once again be explored digitally in the Nuremberg Quarters web app. “We are pleased that, in addition to the traditional Christmas stroll through the market, we can provide national and international guests as well as locals with exciting anecdotes, looks behind the scenes and stories about the market’s traders,” says Yvonne Coulin. In addition to unusual gift tips, you can explore the vegan and vegetarian variety on the market. New Christmas spots complement the offering in the web app.
Online offers from the Nuremberg Christmas market
The digital event calendar on the website christkindlesmarkt.de contains around 300 events for the Christkindlesmarkt – from the stage program in front of the Frauenkirche to special Christmas tours. Tickets for rides on the Museum of Communication’s historic stagecoaches can be purchased online at https://ots.de/qh31wD booked or purchased at the tourist information at the main market and in the Handwerkerhof. In addition to the digital event calendar, the stall plan is also available online, which features an improved search for products and information about the retailers.
Coach service
The tried and tested system for controlling coach volumes will be continued this year for national and international tour operators. There are exit and entry points for guests again at Grasersgasse, Vestnertorgraben and Marienstrasse. The bus team can go to the special bus parking lot at the Volksfestplatz for the duration of their stay. Upon arrival, drivers will receive a welcome package with Elisenlebkuchen from Lebkuchen-Schmidt, vouchers for bratwurst rolls and drinks and, if desired, a ticket for public transport.

Lebkuchen-Schmidt has been the main sponsor of the Christmas market for a year. The traditional house, founded in 1927, sees itself as Nuremberg’s Christmas ambassador with its world-famous specialties and wants to use its commitment to help further strengthen the Christkindlesmarkt brand. As part of the cooperation, Lebkuchen-Schmidt also develops official licensed products for the market and also takes part in the city’s social Christmas projects.
