From Monday, a new regulation of the Federal Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK) will apply, with which the existing import restrictions in connection with the mouth and claw disease (MKS) are specifically adapted. Specifically, the previously nationwide import ban for certain animal products from Hungary is limited to those areas that are shown as protection, surveillance or other restricted zones in accordance with EU disease law.
The following product groups from the aforementioned restriction areas remain affected by the import ban:
- living animals of susceptible species
- Fresh meat and raw milk
- Manure and stable manure
- Wildbreed, wild in the ceiling and hunting trophies
These measures were and are part of a comprehensive pension concept that Austria implements in close coordination with the AGE, neighboring countries and the European Commission. The aim remains to prevent the introduction of the high -containing animal disease to Austrian territory.
The veterinary authorities in Hungary and Slovakia have meanwhile taken intensive measures to fight disease. The current state assessment now allows the import ban to differentiate geographically – while maintaining a high level of protection.
The increased border controls, the temporary closure of smaller border crossings and the strict organic security requirements for companies remain unchanged. The weekly nationwide samples in the surveillance zone and the risk -based examinations in the extended blocking zone are also continued.
The epidemiological location continues to be rated by the Ages. All protective measures are implemented in close coordination with the responsible ministries, the state authorities and the European Commission.
