New presenter for “Salzburg today” on ORF

Premiere for Katharina Schaber on January 4th

Vienna (OTS) ORF Salzburg is strengthening its moderation team for the television program “Salzburg Today”. On Thursday, January 4th, 2024, ORF editor Katharina Schaber will welcome the people of Salzburg for the first time at 7 p.m. In the future, the 34-year-old ORF journalist Katharina Schaber will present the program “Salzburg Today” alternately with Katharina Garzuly, Viola Worter, Andreas Landrock and Harald Manzl. Conny Deutsch is moving to the Upper Austria regional studio, Thomas Mussger is reorienting himself professionally from 2024.

The Salzburg resident attended the tourism school in Bad Hofgastein and completed her studies in law and economics as well as communication science in Salzburg. She completed her first media internship at the ORF regional studio in Salzburg and solidified her desire to become a journalist.

Great experience in editorial and live entry

Schaber initially worked as a radio presenter for private radio stations, as an event presenter and for various private TV stations such as ServusTV. This was followed by a move to the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria, where she was able to gain valuable experience in the current service on TV, radio and online and later as a TV presenter on “Upper Austria Today”. After five years of daily commuting between Salzburg and Linz, Katharina Schaber moved to ORF Salzburg at the beginning of 2023. Since then she has been working as a trimedial editor, i.e. for TV, radio & online, in the Salzburg state studio. Katharina Schaber is already known from numerous live appearances: she reported live from the state elections in Salzburg, from court cases and directly from storms and accidents.

Experience also in the national program

As a journalist, Katharina Schaber is versatile and at home in practically all departments, from politics to culture, from chronicles to business and sport. She has also designed several editions of “Österreich-Bild am Sonntag”.

Katharina Schaber is looking forward to her new “old” task:
“I’m really looking forward to this new ‘old’ task, especially because I can now bring the latest news and current information directly to the people of Salzburg in Salzburg,” says Katharina Schaber about her start as “Salzburg Today” presenter .

Change in the six-person moderator team

The long-time presenter of “Salzburg today” and “Mittagszeit” on Radio Salzburg and folk culture editor Conny Deutsch, a native of Upper Austria, is moving to the Upper Austria regional studio. “I am happy to be returning to my homeland after almost 30 years in Salzburg, more than 20 of them in the ORF regional studio. I was and am very connected to Upper Austria and the people there and am looking forward to many new faces and stories that I will be able to tell in the ORF Upper Austria regional studio from January 1st, 2024.”

Thomas Mussger, who presented “Salzburg today” and at Radio Salzburg, is reorienting himself from January and will work independently as a presenter, speaker and management consultant. The decision about his successor will be made at a casting in January 2024. Thomas Mussger thanks him and says: “I really enjoyed my time at ORF Salzburg and wish my successor as much fun and joy in moderating as I was able to experience!”

ORF country director Waltraud Langer says of the first change in the presenter team of “Salzburg today” in two years: “We are pleased that we were able to welcome Katharina Schaber, a very committed and competent journalist, to our team and that she will now be our new presenter. I would like to thank Conny Deutsch and Thomas Mussger very much for their commitment, their versatility and professionalism and wish them the very best for their personal and professional future.”
