On Friday, May 30, 2025, “The Great Burgenland Tour” of the ORF in Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitztal (Jennersdorf district) ended with so many participants: inside than ever. An impressive number of 5,200 hiking fans could be counted on the seven day. On the fifth day, Großpetersdorf in the Oberwart district recorded the highest number of participants with 1,400 people.
The tour fans were there for seven days to hike through Burgenland together. From gentle hills to dense, green forests – the participants were enthusiastic about the diverse hiking routes and the picturesque places that Burgenland has to offer.
The starting shot was given in the wine -growing community of Gols in the Neusiedl am See district with 600 participants. On the second day, 800 people hiked the 18 -kilometer route in the state capital of Eisenstadt. On the third day, the “Bigenland Tour” stopped in Bad Sauerbrunn and the route was quite demanding. But 500 tour fans were unimpressed by the demanding route. It continued on day four in Oberpullendorf in fantastic hiking weather, sunshine and 550 hikers. In Großpetersdorf there were 1,400 hiking enthusiasts – including many students from Hannersdorf, Großpetersdorf, Oberwart and Pinkafeld, who used the tour in the district for a hiking day. Day six of the “Big Burgenland Tour” spoiled the 800 participants in Eberau with perfect hiking weather. In a good atmosphere, the tour on the seventh day and around Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitztal ended. 550 hiking fans were not put off by the weather and the last stage went with them. In total, impressive 5,200 participants have set off and covered around 126 kilometers in 2025 as part of the “Großer Burgenland Tour” in 2025.
Since 2013, a total of 63 different routes with a total of 1,200 kilometers have been moved at nine editions of the “Große Burgenland Tour”.

Best of the “Great Burgenland Tour” on Saturday in “Burgenland today”
ORF Burgenland accompanied the “big Burgenland Tour” in its media – radio, television, internet -. The tour could also be followed on the social media channels-Instagram and Facebook. In “Burgenland today” there was a detailed summary with the most beautiful pictures of the day at 7:00 p.m. in ORF 2/B every day, an introduction from the destination and a preview of the hiking route of the next day. Radio Burgenland reported live from the “Große Burgenland Tour” every day – from “good morning Burgenland” to “Radio Burgenland afternoon”. On the Internet at burgenland.orf.at there was already detailed information about the routes and during the tour the most beautiful photos and impressions from the hikes.
A “Best of” of the “Great Burgenland Tour” is available tomorrow Saturday, May 31, 2025, in “Burgenland today” at 7:00 p.m. in ORF 2/b. Also tomorrow Saturday, Radio Burgenland’s program can be heard from the hikers’ tour highlights.
