The new Festival Origo celebrates the folk music in its lively and continuously changing form from April 24th to 26th at the University of Mozarteum and in the city room Salzburg – and thus sees itself as a platform that not only preserves, but also makes folk music experienced in its dynamics and creativity.
This experience takes place in cooperation with the Salzburg folk song, the Salzburg folk culture, the state of Salzburg, the Musikum, the Vössing Foundation and the Tyrolean State Conservatory. Concerts, workshops, a symposium, dance festivals and street music are offered for a wide audience – from students to dance enthusiasts to folk music lovers. All events are to be attended with free admission.

The chromatic Salzburg Hackbrett Will be with a Symposium Special room granted: “The Salzburg Hackbrett particularly shaped folk music in the 20th century and is now celebrating its 90th birthday!”says Heidelore Wallisch-Schauer, teacher for hacking board at the Department of Music Education in Salzburg and Innsbruck. The symposium with six articles follows the history of the Chromatic Salzburg Hackboard and makes an attempt to locate the instrument in European music history. In neun Change concerts Musicians from the University of Mozarteum, the music, winners of the Alpine Folk Music Competition and Herma-Haselsteiner Prize and the Tyrolean State Conservatory will present a diverse program in very different casts. At the Dance of cultures is invited to a multicultural dance festival into the Augustinerbräu Mülln. On the third day of the festival, places in the old town of Salzburg will be a stage for everyone who loves folk music and want to get involved spontaneously.
