Hannover (ots) – The 32nd International Fireworks Competition of Hannover Veranstaltungs GmbH (HVG) starts the new season on May 25, 2024. For the first time this year, teams from unprecedented countries are projecting their skills in Hanover. And that’s the motto of this year’s competition “New Nations – New Spirits”.
The five renowned pyrotechnics teams present their spectacular shows in a baroque garden setting on five evenings between May and September – traditionally with a compulsory piece (this year an excerpt from “Game of Thrones”, recorded by the NDR Radiophilharmonie) and a freestyle in which none There are limits to the choice of music, fireworks and creativity.
The spark of this magical event jumps as soon as you enter, because a symphony for the senses awaits visitors in the preliminary program: walk acts, live music, children’s activities, typical local gastronomy and space for picnics shorten the waiting time until the highlight of the evening, when the garden and fireworks merge into a unique experience.

The teams and their shows
25.05.: The team Red Flame Special Effects aus Malaysia has been designing innovative fireworks shows since 1995. The pyrotechnicians have been traveling together to festivals around the world for almost 30 years and are always looking for challenges. They found it in Hanover, where they are visiting for the first time. The show’s motto is inspired by the Great Garden “The Treasures of Borneo” a homage to the natural wonders of Malaysia and at the same time an invitation to discover this diverse country. The island trip to Borneo becomes a path of inner contemplation and peace, not least because of the accompanying spherical sounds.
08.06.: The fireworks team Pyrocom from Estonia was founded in 2018. This means that the business is comparatively young, but in total the group of passionate pyrotechnicians has more than 50 years of experience. They present their technically and artistically high-quality shows all over the world, and Hanover is also taking part as a venue for the first time. The Balts use the fairytale, mystical aura of Hanover’s Royal Garden for their own benefit “Adventures of Feelings” – that’s the motto of their show. They build on the compulsory musical piece from “Games of Thrones” and also use sounds from the fantasy genre in their free choice of music. The dark soundtrack and the fire spectacle of dragons, trolls and giants in the sky transport the audience directly into these fantastic film worlds.
17.08.: The Indian company Amir Morani Fireworks was founded in 1937 by Gulamali Morani, later taken over by his son Amir and finally by his grandson Azan. Azan has been working with his team since 2019. It’s only the third time the crew has taken part in a fireworks competition and the first time they’ve lit up the skies over Hanover. Under the motto “Harmony across the horizon“, colorful pyrodesigns, accompanied by groovy beats from different cultures, reflect the diversity of life on all levels. The arrangement of dynamic effects and energetic sounds is not only an invitation to swing along with devotion, but above all an invitation to diversity across horizons to live, respect and celebrate.
07.09.: The eight-person team has been working since 1996 Vilnius Salutes aus Litauen together. That’s when they started selling fireworks. This increasingly turned into professional fireworks services before they finally founded the company Vilniaus Saliutas in 2013. Since then, the pyro experts have been able to boast a diverse gallery of award-winning works. In Hanover the Balts design under the title “The future takes place in the past” an unforgettable summer evening. Spectators can expect an exhilarating party in the historic garden setting, with guests traveling to a ball in the 18th century using the latest fireworks technology. Elector George I of Hanover invites you to the festival, with music from British bands such as Queen and the Beatles, on the occasion of his coronation as King of Great Britain in 1714.
14.09.: The teamPrivatex-Pyrofounded in 1991 by L’ubomír Masár in Dubnica, has a long-standing history Slovak fireworks tradition made your own. In addition to high-quality shows, the company is the only one in its homeland that also develops and produces new pyrotechnics in its own laboratories. With many innovations, Masár’s crew has established itself as a world-famous fireworks company.
The pyro pioneers show their skills with large-format productions at home and abroad – and for the first time they are now entering the competition in Hanover.
Under the motto “Enchanted land” the Slovaks project the story of a king. The regent is looking for a land for his people where peace and love will last forever. The pyro effects form fountains, flames, chrysanthemums and comets, accompanied by trilingual chants ( English, Latin, Slovak).
The supporting program
The Herrenhausen Gardens have represented the feudal way of life in the countryside for more than 300 years. Like court society once did, today visitors stroll between magnificent plants, sculptures, water features and the colorful grotto by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle. All of this provides the perfect backdrop for the event. Walk acts, live music on various stages, comedy, dance, a circus show on the children’s meadow and typical local gastronomic offerings invite you to enjoy the waiting time until the fireworks. The program starts with a welcome at the main east entrance at 5:45 p.m. Admission to the Great Garden is from 6 p.m.
On August 17th, when the pyro team from faraway India presents itself in Hanover, the Indian Association Hannover eV the supporting program with music, dance and children’s activities. The association not only welcomes its compatriots who have traveled from far away, it also brings South Asian flair to the Great Garden.
Baroque cavalry in the Great Garden
A unique highlight of the supporting program awaits visitors on June 8th: On this day, the Institute for Classical Equestrian Hannover eV will present an impressive performance of historical baroque equestrian art in the Royal Gardens. The exquisite representation of the art of dressage from the 17th and 18th centuries, with demanding maneuvers, elegant pirouettes and artistic side movements, is performed by highly qualified riders on around 25 magnificent horses.
Unique items from the fireworks competition
The intercultural sewing project “taschentalent” recycled various flags from the International Fireworks Competition. The result is bags in different sizes, all creative one-offs with unique fireworks motifs from past competitions. With the products, HVG, together with the “taschentalent” project from Wedemark, is setting an example for integration and sustainability. The bags (from 13.95 euros) are now available at the Tourist Info Hannover at Ernst-August-Platz 8 and in the online shop.
Advance ticket sales and ticket prices
Entrance tickets are also available at the Hanover Tourist Information Office at Ernst-August-Platz 8 or at Online-Shop under https://visit.ticket2go.de/#!/ available. A ticket costs 26 euros, reduced price 23 euros. For 69 euros there is a family ticket for two adults and two children aged 6 to 14, with an additional charge of 11 euros for each additional child. All five events in this year’s competition are worth one Season ticket for 110 euros. There are currently almost 40 season tickets left for this year’s season.

Arrival and departure – new parking guidance system
In the future, Herrenhausen will be relieved of the heavy departure traffic. Some of the departure traffic is routed through uninhabited areas past the Graft via the Steintormarsch towards Königsworther Platz. If you arrive by car, you will find parking on the streets “Am Großen Garten” to the west and “An der Graft” to the east of the gardens and at the level of the main east entrance. The HVG recommends that all visitors to the fireworks competition travel by public transport. Metro lines 4 and 5 stop directly at the main entrance at the “Herrenhäuser Gardens” stop. The admission ticket is valid as a ticket for all public transport in the entire GVH area from three hours before the start of the fireworks competition until 5 a.m. the following day.
57,500 visitors were expected
