Author Corinna Spaeth: “Only those who retain the best talent in their network are prepared for the AI age and remain competitive”

We live in times of upheaval and contradictions, including in the labor market. Artificial intelligence, demographic change, digital transformation and the radical escalation of global crises lead to fears for the future, excessive demands and unprecedented pressure dynamics among employees and employers. In addition, there are new requirements and the high willingness of generations Y and Z to change, who will probably make up half of the employees in the German labor market. All of these factors present business leaders with completely new challenges. In addition, for the first time in our history, parallel worlds are emerging on the labor market in which people are hired and fired at the same time and in rapid cycles. As one wave of layoffs follows the next, companies are looking for the best talent. Still. invest these huge sums in recruiting and onboarding. In doing so, they overlook what is becoming increasingly relevant in the wake of the radical disruptions in the labor market: offboarding, the consciously designed separation process when employees leave. Anyone who only focuses on onboarding and does not have an innovative, future-oriented dismissal and network retention strategy risks being sidelined in the talent market.

This is the thesis of the renowned transformation expert and psychologist Corinna Spaeth in her new book “Future strategy for the world of work – How companies remain competitive through a culture of network ties“. On September 12th, the author will give a lecture on her book at Europe’s leading HR trade fair Zukunft Personal in Cologne.

Strategic network ties open up potential for companies and employees

The book is the result of a remarkable expedition in which Corinna Spaeth takes her readers on an inspiring journey beyond the mainstream. Based on 25 co-creating interviews with well-known companies such as SAP, Allianz, Techniker Krankenkasse, Engie, Ford, DATEV, Cancom and Wintershall Dea, as well as top experts such as Prof. Dr. Christian Busch, the futurologist Sven Gábor Jánszky and Prof. Dr. Anja Lüthy has developed future strategies that rethink and shape the culture of attachment and separation. In this way, entrepreneurs, personnel decision-makers and managers learn from numerous examples how they can become pioneers or talent magnets in the jungle of skilled workers and remain in the long term. Corinna Spaeth also gives tips and tricks for significantly improving the #PeopleExperience and reveals how companies can retain employees in the network.

Breakups are the new normal

According to the author, companies must reflect on the change in the world of work, which consists of rapid on- and off-boarding, and actively take control of their own positioning with a network system that goes beyond the previous employer branding. Only those companies that understand that they themselves are a constantly changing network in which people come together for a period of time, part again and form new bonds, also understand that separations are normal. In such a network bonding culture, personal wishes are valued just as much as economic ones and benefits are generated for both sides. In this way, reorganization and restructuring processes are completely rethought and designed in order to begin the step into a new era that remains human with the network binding strategy.

With Corinna Spaeth’s three-stage network retention strategy, she illustrates how every company can benefit today by strengthening teams that remain in constant change, preventing high-performers from leaving, improving internal company cybersecurity, and achieving higher recommendation rates and good employer ratings.
