Brandstätter: “His expertise and reporting are still very internationally recognized today.”
Vienna (OTS) – “Paul Lendvai has always been a role model as an ardent European and outstanding journalist. I have always found him to be a forward-looking expert and an open contact person. His expertise and reporting are still internationally recognized today. I am grateful for each of our conversations and would like to congratulate him on this incredible number of over 250 ORF European studios. “I am therefore not only looking forward to many more contributions to our common Europe, but also to his next book,” says NEOS foreign policy spokesman and EU leading candidate Helmut Brandstätter on the occasion of the last ORF European studio with Paul Lendvai. Brandstätter worked with Paul Lendvai during his time at ORF – in the 1980s and 90s.
It was only last year that Brandstätter met Lendvai for an interview, in which they spoke about the danger posed by illiberal democracies and dictatorships: “Paul Lendvai’s work is more relevant than ever. His resistance to the communist dictatorship has always impressed us colleagues. I was with him in Albania after the end of the dictatorship and was able to see with him how the country was working to build a democracy. Then as now, it is important to stand together against dictatorships, hatred and populism. That’s what Paul Lendvai and I have had in common since we’ve known each other.”
