NEOS: Beate Meinl-Reisinger re-elected as chairwoman with 91 percent | NEOS

Beate Meinl-Reisinger: “We are ready to lead Austria back in the right direction. NEOS is needed more than ever.”

Vienna (OTS) NEOS party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger was re-elected today at the Federal General Meeting in Vienna with 91 percent of the vote. Meinl-Reisinger sees this result as a clear mandate to continue fighting for reforms in Austria with all her might and energy. “I thank you all for your trust. If we hadn’t founded ourselves in 2012, we would be doing it again today more than ever. Because without us nothing will change. Austria needs NEOS more than ever.”

With a view to the National Council election, Meinl-Reisinger said in her speech after the election: “We will be the positive alternative in the election campaign and in the National Council election in the fall. People are tired of the strife and stalemate of the last governments. Some areas are particularly in need of reform. And we stand for exactly these areas and these reforms: for education, for a strengthening of the economy, for lower taxes and of course for an end to job haggling and corruption.”

According to the chairwoman, NEOS are “the only independent, fresh reform force that is ready to take on responsibility in a new government. We are ready to lead Austria back in the right direction. We are courageous to do this even in the face of resistance so that the change for the better can take place. We have the energy for sustainable reforms. It must finally be possible again to build something on your own, especially for young people. We will fight for this.”

Strong team

The Federal Executive Board of NEOS was also re-elected today by a clear majority of members. The state chairwoman in Vorarlberg and top candidate for the state election Claudia Gamon and the Vienna state chairwoman and deputy mayor Christoph Wiederkehr will act as Meinl-Reisinger’s deputies in the future.

Meinl-Reisinger: “I am very confident that we will achieve great things with this team. We want to play a key role in future government negotiations. With Christoph Wiederkehr we have already shown in Vienna that you can govern decently, that WE can govern properly and keep the promises we make before an election after the election.”
