Nationwide Dirndlgwand Sunday on September 8th
St. Pölten (OTS) –

The nationwide Dirndl Dress Sunday has already become a tradition and is being called for by Volkskultur Lower Austria for the 16th time this year. It’s about the diversity of the costumes and the joy of the shapes and colors. There are opportunities to wear the traditional costume on September 8th, including at morning pints, church services, hikes, regional festivals and traditional costume fashion shows. ORF Radio NÖ broadcasts a radio breakfast on Dirndlgwand Sunday live from Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn, where Dirndlgwand Sunday has been celebrated with a big party for many years.

“Wearing traditional costumes on Dirndlgwandsonntag has become a beloved tradition in Lower Austria,” says state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who also emphasizes about the festival of traditional costumes: “But dirndls and lederhosen are not only used on this day on a variety of occasions and festivals to see the whole country. This is not least thanks to the initiative of the Lower Austrian Folk Culture, which puts what is common over what divides, looks beyond borders and thus brings people from all areas together. So I wish all Lower Austrians many wonderful encounters and lots of fun on Dirndlgwand Sunday.”

The Lower Austria Folk Culture team is looking forward to the many Dirndlgwand Sunday events throughout the country. Organizers simply write to the email office@volkskulturnoe.at and the contribution to Dirndlgwandsonntag will be posted www.volkskulturnoe.at advertised.

“Under the motto Dirndl & Co, the focus is on the diverse possibilities and ways of wearing traditional costumes and dirndls. From traditional to modern combinations, from dazzling to simple, from short to long,” says Harald Froschauer, Managing Director of Volkskultur Niederösterreich, about the motto of this year’s Dirndl Dress Sunday. You can share your most beautiful snapshots with the community using the hashtag #dirndlgwandsonntag – on Facebook and Instagram – or simply by email to office@volkskulturnoe.at.
