As many women were killed by men in Vienna within 24 hours “as in the entire year of 2023,” according to the Autonomous Austrian Women’s Shelters Association (AÖF) on Sunday. On Friday, a 13-year-old and her mother (51) were found dead in the Landstrasse district; the husband and father (53), who had initially disappeared, are considered suspects. In the evening, three women died in a knife attack in a Brigittenau brothel and a suspect was arrested. In 2023, according to the AÖF data, there were 26 in Austria Femicide committed, and there were also 51 attempted murders or cases of serious violence against women. A new case Monday morning: A man is said to have murdered his wife Eschenau (Lilienfeld district). The suspect may then have attempted suicide.
