Vienna (OTS) – Traditionally, “Mr. Song Contest” Andi Knoll with “Mr. Song Contest proudly presents” on May 7th and 9th, 2024, at 8:15 p.m., the ESC evening from ORF 1. This year, he is throwing directly before the first ESC semifinal on Tuesday, May 7th – on the occasion of the tenth anniversary from Conchita Wurst’s victory – together with her alter ego Tom Neuwirth, we take a look back at the best, funniest and most emotional moments of 2014 in Copenhagen. On Thursday, May 9th, he will not only present his favorites from the second semi-final, but will also meet Austria’s this year’s ESC participant Kaleen as well as former ESC acts Zoë Straub and Cesár Sampson for a talk.

The first edition of the popular ESC warm-up “Mr. “Song Contest proudly presents” is dedicated this year to the topic “10 years of Conchita at the Song Contest”. Andi Knoll, together with Tom Neuwirth alias Conchita Wurst, remembers the Austrian victory in Copenhagen ten years ago. They reflect on the most beautiful moments of the anniversary as well as their funniest and most emotional memories.

Andi Knoll is also back as “Mr. Song Contest” in action and presents his personal favorites among the countries competing that evening. Together with Austria’s this year’s representative Kaleen and the former ESC acts Zoë Straub and Cesár Sampson, he discusses the competition and the best tips for being successful in the song contest.
Podcast “Mr. Song Contest meets Merci Chérie” on ORF Sound and ORF ON
In six episodes, “Mr. Song Contest” Andi Knoll the Eurovision podcasters from “Merci, Chérie”, Alkis Vlassakakis and Marco Schreuder. In each episode they discuss insights, analysis, stories and rumors about the Eurovision Song Contest. Whether politics, fans, music or ABBA, every corner of the biggest music show in the world is illuminated – with glitter, fun and lots of music. From “Mamma Mia!” to “ABBA Forever”: feature films and documentaries about the song contest event
With “Mamma Mia!” and “Mamma Mia!” Here We Go Again” ORF 1 starts the song contest week on Monday, May 6th at 8:15 p.m. and 10:05 p.m. with the two successful big screen adaptations about Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. At 12:05 a.m., “ABBA Forever” documents the careers of Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid, who wrote music history after their Eurovision Song Contest victory in Brighton in 1974.
On Tuesday, May 7th at 11:30 p.m. on ORF 1 everything revolves around Austria’s ESC winner from 2014: The documentary “Conchita – On the Wings of the Phoenix” reviews the victory from back then – including backstage insights and emotional moments.
“Mercie Chérie – Austria and the Song Contest” will also look back on Thursday, May 9th at 4:15 p.m. – to March 5th, 1966, when Udo Jürgens won and his international career began. Afterwards, at 5 p.m., the documentary “Twelve points for a hit – The Eurovision Song Contest” will examine the question of what makes the ESC so fascinating, where people from different backgrounds and languages are on stage. At 6:00 p.m. and 6:55 p.m., shortly before the second semifinal with Austrian participant Kaleen, there will be the opportunity to get in the mood for the decisive ESC evening with Dacapos from “ABBA Forever” and “Conchita – On the Wings of the Phoenix”.

During the decision week, the current “Zeit im Bild” programs, “Aktuell nach eins”, “Aktuell nach Five” and “Guten Morgen Österreich” report from Malmö, as well as the “Seitenblicke”, “Studio 2”, “Guten Morgen Österreich”. “, the ORF regional studios and the ORF radios are dedicating their programs to the ESC 2024. “Studio 2” will celebrate “10 years of Conchita’s ESC victory” on Friday, May 10th at 5:30 p.m. on ORF 2. Norbert Oberhauser and Martin Ferdiny talk to Armin Doppelbauer about this year’s ESC final on May 11th. And ORF KIDS also reports on the ESC: In the program “MINI SPEZIAL” on the final day, May 11th, at 5:55 p.m., the funniest performances of the past few years are shown and explain how exactly the song contest actually works.
Der „Eurovision Song Contest 2024“ live in ORF 1
The largest TV entertainment event in the world will once again take place on three evenings: The first semi-final is on Tuesday, May 7th, the second semi-final – with Austria’s representative Kaleen with start number 6 – on Thursday, May 9th, and that Final on Saturday, May 11th, live from Malmö from 9 p.m. on the ORF 1 program.
The two semifinal evenings will be broadcast at 8:15 p.m. by ORF commentator Andi Knoll with “Mr. Song Contest proudly presents” opens. On the final evening, Barbara Schöneberger will lead through the two ORF/ARD/SRF supporting programs “ESC – The Countdown” (8:15 p.m.) and “ESC – The Aftershow” (1:15 a.m.) live from Malmö.
