More than adventure in your head

Reading opens up new perspectives, lets our imaginations travel, and provides insights into unknown worlds. That’s why the PH Vienna is dedicated to the topic of reading aloud.

Vienna (OTS) “The importance of this topic and therefore of this day cannot be overestimated. And if reading aloud takes place in many different languages, then that once again underlines our distinctive focus.”says Christian Aspalter from the Institute for Urban Diversity Education at the Vienna University of Education about the colorful program for reading day on March 21, 2024. This initiative is particularly important to Rector Barbara Herzog-Punzenberger, because every language is the key to social participation . Aspalter emphasizes the importance of such initiatives, which are not just limited to one day of action at the PH Vienna: “Reading skills are the bottleneck of our education system. We have known this since PISA 2000 at the latest. But reading can do much more: it opens up foreign worlds, trains empathy and creativity and is therefore central to the development of a complex personality that can cope with the demands of an increasingly complex world is.”
