The personnel offensive will be consistently continued
Vienna (OTS) – In recent months, numerous measures have been taken to recruit new police officers. Incentives for the next generation of police include a higher starting salary, a climate ticket and reimbursement for the cost of a driver’s license if it is obtained during training.
Recruiting new police students pays off for active police officers: if they are successfully recruited, they can look forward to a cash reward of 1,000 euros. Of around 600 new admissions in December 2023, half were recruited from active police officers. The reward will be paid out in two tranches of 500 euros each. After the recruited person has spent six months in basic training, the recruiter receives the first part of the bonus. The second part is paid out after the basic training has been successfully completed.
Quote from Interior Minister Gerhard Karner:
“We see that the measures of the past few months are having an effect and the number of applicants has increased significantly. The bonus system introduced is another important contribution to the personnel offensive,” said Interior Minister Gerhard Karner
