Monarq Asset Management appoints Sam Gaer as head of the investment department (CIO) as the management of the directional strategy

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the areas of institutional trade, market infrastructure and systematic asset management, Sam Gaer brings well -founded specialist knowledge to support the next growth phase of Monarq.

After a decade of successful delta-neutral and market-making strategies, Monarq is expanding its directional skills to achieve a broader spectrum of risk-cleaned returns. The strategy focuses on convincing topics, asymmetrical engagements and tactical volatility overlays that enable the company to precisely control the changing market conditions.

The Directorate strategy of Monarq has achieved a strong performance over the course of the year, with disciplined risk and capital allocation being retained. With the support of global institutional capital via its USD and BTC-denominated funds, Monarq now scales access to direct source for absolute returns within its platform.

Mr. Gaer was previously a co-manager of Blocktower Capital flagship and founded Katana Financial, a leading company for systematic trade. He was also head of the investment department (CIO) at Finra and EPP/CIO at Nymex, where he led important technological redesign and strategic initiatives. He has a degree in corporate financing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
