Wien, 21.11.2024 – The new MILESTONE Vienna Erdberg student residence in Neu Marx in Vienna-Landstraße has officially opened its doors. It offers Austrian and international students modern, sustainable living as well as ideal learning conditions and excellent connections to the city’s academic and cultural life as well as leisure activities. The student residence is part of the overall Stadtquartier@WienArena concept, which is being built by Raiffeisen Property Holding International (RPHI), and makes a significant contribution to meeting the increasing demand for student housing in the federal capital. The ceremonial opening took place on Thursday, November 21st, in the presence of Managing Director MILESTONE Christof Flöckner and Karl-Maria Pfeffer, Managing Director Raiffeisen Property Holding International.
“Vienna, as a first-class university location, is increasingly attracting national and international students, which is constantly increasing the need for living space. We are pleased to have once again expanded our high-quality offering with MILESTONE Vienna Erdberg. The student residence takes student life to a new level, in a location that perfectly combines study and leisure time,” emphasizes Flöckner from MILESTONE. The new building is already the third MILESTONE student residence in Vienna. MILESTONE also operates student halls of residence at the university locations in Linz, Graz and Leoben.
A total of 418 rooms in different categories are available to students. All residential units are rented fully furnished. The building also offers fitness, music and multi-purpose rooms as well as a large terrace for common use. The MILESTONE Vienna Erdberg student residence has a gross floor area of 14,600 m². In the first quarter of 2025, 48 serviced apartments as well as shop and office space with a gross floor area of 4,600 m² will follow.
Student residence in an attractive new district
“A future-oriented and attractive district will be created on the 50,000 m² site of the Stadtquartier@WienArena in the coming years,” explains Pfeffer. “The projects include the MILESTONE student residence and the European Handball House. The Anton residential project, completed in 2018, a planned hotel and serviced apartments complement the area. The infrastructure and development of this district make the location particularly attractive for students from home and abroad. The Biology Center of the University of Vienna, local recreation areas and, in the future, the Vienna Arena itself are just a few minutes’ walk away. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent connection to public transport via subway and tram. The entire area is scheduled to be completed by the end of the decade.”
Environmentally friendly and sustainable
The student residence relies on sustainable technologies such as groundwater use, heat pumps, component activation and a comprehensive photovoltaic system on the roof. Gold certification by the Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate (ÖGNI) is being sought; pre-certification in gold has already been achieved. “Life cycle-oriented thinking and sustainable construction have always been essential for RPHI and have been an integral part of our philosophy since our founding,” concludes Pfeffer.
