The caricature museum Krems dedicates the caricaturist Michael Pammesberger to the large personal “Planet Pammesberger” (22.02.2025 – 01.02.2026) on the occasion of his 60th birthday. Michael Pammesberger is one of the most outstanding cartoonists in Austria, who comments on the political abysses of Austria and social issues every day. Since 1992 he has been drawing for large Austrian daily newspapers, since 1997 for the courier. In his caricatures, Pammesberger gets to the point with a precise stroke and ingenious joke. His motto: “I don’t shy away from anything when drawing
.“
The exhibition includes a cross -section through Pammesberger’s work and shows it as a chronicler of the past 30 years – from current to early work and drawn travel reports:
„The personnel to Michael Pammesberger in the Krems caricature museum not only shows the development of an artistic talent, but also its ability to comment on social reality with a sharp look for irony and humor. Pammesberger’s works invite you to look at the world around us from a new perspective and to think about the position of satire in today’s society
“, Summarize the curator: inside the exhibition Gottfried Gusenbauer and Anna Steinmair together.
As the only Austrian museum of satirical art, the caricature museum Krems with this exhibition once again shows how important critical drawing is in our time.
In addition to political caricatures with a focus on current events in Austria, general social issues such as education, health, climate and MThe cartoon must not be a picture of the text, i.e. mere illustration. It must be an eye -catcher and comment in drawing form at the same time
Edien, cars and activism, the obligation to make vaccination and oaths – Michael Pammesberger captures the nuances of human action and transforms them into brilliant art:
„Like a plan, the sun circles the cartoonist Michael Pammesberger drawing the inadequacies, sensitivities and political abysses in Austria. He brings his ideas directly and confidently on paper. He often presents them in various visual versions to emphasize the tragic-weaning aspects. This is caricature in its most beautiful and most subversive form
“, Comments Gottfried Gusenbauer, artistic director of the Krems caricature museum.
As a cartoonist, Pammesberger is close to journalism. He likes to stage himself in his caricatures and thus reflects his role as a drawing chronicler. “”The cartoon must not be a picture of the text, i.e. mere illustration. It must be an eye -catcher and comment in drawing form at the same time
“, so Michael Pammesberger.
