Michael Fischer remains DPA Chancellor’s correspondent

Berlin (OTS) –

In parallel to the formation of the new federal government, the German Press Agency sets the course for its future federal political reporting: Michael Fischer remains Chancellor’s correspondent for the largest German news agency. The 55 -year -old journalist had reported on the Chancellery in the past three and a half years. At the same time, the dpa Jörg Blank (59) appoints chief correspondent for foreign and security policy. In addition, as before, Blank remains responsible for the Federal Foreign Office.

“Michael Fischer is an outstanding political rapporteur with exclusive connections and deep knowledge of the political processes. He has shown this as a journalistic companion of the Federal Chancellor and the failed traffic light coalition over the past few years and will now prove in challenging times with a new government constellation,” says dpa editor-in-chief Sven Gösmann.

Gösmann adds: “World policy is currently experiencing an actual turning point. Foreign and security policy are at the center of political action. We are reacting to this with a strengthening of our competence in this field. Jörg Blank is one of the most renowned Berlin journalists with excellent contacts in many areas of foreign and security policy, which he will use in his role as chief correspondent in the interests of our customers.” Together with the total of 12-strong federal corresponding team, fishermen and Blank would offer a unrivaled good product with exclusive content, rapid and understandable classification and high expertise, the DPA editor-in-chief continued.

Michael Fischer has been with dpa since 2010. Before his time as a chancellor’s correspondent, he reported on foreign and defense policy for dpa. Before that, he was a Chancellor’s correspondent and deputy capital office manager of the German Service of the Associated Press news agency. Jörg Blank has been with dpa for 33 years. He has been one of the agency’s formative reporter heads for many years.
