Freedom instead of control: MFG defends itself against e-vaccination passports
The MFG was the first political force to submit an individual application to the Constitutional Court for a constitutional review of the electronic vaccination certificate (eImpfpass). “The planned system, which is supposed to serve health, turns out on closer inspection to be a massive encroachment on the civil liberties of citizens – we will not let that stand,” says LABg. Dagmar Häusler, BSc.
Citizens’ health data should be stored in the e-vaccination pass – without their express consent. This contradicts the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and deeply encroaches on the right to informational self-determination. Particularly worrying: This sensitive data is supposed to be stored for up to 30 years after death – a scenario that is reminiscent of surveillance systems that we would expect in authoritarian states like China. This also raises the question: Who has access to this data, and how secure is it really in times of increasing cyber attacks? LAbg. Joachim Aigner, MFG-Upper state party chairman: “Data protection and self-determination are non-negotiable! It cannot be the case that citizens are subjected to a system that infringes so deeply into their privacy without their knowledge or consent. This must be stopped.”
„Have we learned nothing from the Corona period?
We all remember how people who did not want to be vaccinated were suddenly excluded. Back then it was said that everything served to protect health – but who can guarantee us that this won’t happen again?” Dagmar Häusler rightly asks herself. The e-vaccination pass could quickly become a tool for state control if citizens who opt out of the system fear disadvantages. A free society thrives on choice – not on government pressure.
MFG demand: voluntariness instead of coercion!
We therefore demand a clear opt-in regulation: Only those who actively decide to participate in the e-vaccination pass should have their data saved. Anything else is a clear attack on personal freedom. Health data does not belong in government hands without the express consent of the citizens! “By submitting our individual application, we are sending a signal against state surveillance and paternalism and for the freedom and self-determination of citizens,” concluded Joachim Aigner.
