MFG commuter alliance starts petition for dismantling traffic attempts on the Nibelungenbrücke

The so-called “traffic attempt” on the Linz Nibelungenbrücke is currently ensuring massive disabilities in professional and commuter traffic. The MFG commuter alliance-an initiative of affected citizens, supported by the MFG-therefore calls for the bypass of the provisional cycling strips as well as the restoration of the third lane on both sides of the bridge in an online petition at the Steinkellner, which is responsible for state roads, and at the same time presents a solution proposal for the sensible separation of the traffic participants.

“The Nibelungenbrücke is not a playing field for political experiments. What happens here is an imposition for thousands of people-and that has to be stopped immediately,” emphasizes LAbg. Manuel Krautgartner, MfG-OÖ Klubobmann.

What politics does not create now solve citizens

The proposal developed by the MFG commuter alliance together with affected citizens, after the dismantling of the provisional cycling lanes and the re-establishment of the third lane on both sides of the bridge, only dedicates the foot and bike path on the side of the Ars Electronica Center- barrier-free and safe for pediatric and roller drivers. On the opposite side, at the new town hall, a combined strip for bikes, scooters and similar means of transport should be set up. This would clearly be separated – without additional costs, but with maximum effect for traffic safety and the flow of traffic.

The supporters demand, among other things:

• Dismantling of the provisional cycling lanes

• Return of the third lane on both sides

• Footpath on the side of the Ars Electronica Center

• Separate wheel and scooter strips on the side of the new town hall

“Anyone who is stuck every day knows that this is not a traffic attempt – this is a refusal to realize. People expect solutions – not excuses. We therefore call for the immediate dismantling of this unsuitable measure,” concludes Krautgartner.
