They shine with three Guide Michelin stars: the amador and – as you could expect – the Styrianeck in the city park. Metro Austria CEO Thierry Guillon-Verne did not miss the opportunity to personally hand over the coveted badges to the highly decorated bosses Juan Amador and Heinz Reitbauer and to exchange ideas with them about the importance of the Michelin Guide. In unison, these two also confirm that the publication of the Austrian edition of the restaurant guide goes much more hand in hand than a star rating of the domestic culinary scene. Because that the entire country has become part of the international culinary map again for more than 15 years is an expression of recognition for all people who work in the catering and tourism industry.
Plaques are visible signs of gastronomic excellence
Guillon-Vernern: “Metro has been a partner of the Michelin Guide for years and has therefore also campaigned for his entire Austrian return. It was and is important to us that the great gastronomy of all federal states is recognized and that many talents can again be considered a model. I congratulate Juan and Heinz on their top performance as well as all other excellent catering companies. The badges are a visible sign of their gastronomic excellence. ”
Heinz Reitbauer is not only allowed to look forward to 3 stars for the Steirereck in the city park for the first time, but also about a BIB Gourmand for the dairy in the city park. However, what makes him particularly proud and confirmed in his actions are a green star and a Bib Gourmand for his tavern on the pogusch: “I am very pleased that Austria will now receive recognition from the Michelin Guide in the entire width because we are incredible Have respect for agriculture, the products and the variety of Austria. Three stars have never been the exciting goal in my head, but they confirm that we do what we do as a team here, do extremely well with appreciation and passion and with people who share this passion. What we want is to bring Austrian agriculture, culinary delights, tradition, diversity and innovation to the plate as best as possible. I am particularly happy about the award for our tavern on the Pogusch. Affordable food, sustainable at the level of a green star, is one of the greatest performance, I think. ”
Juan Amador: “Michelin stars are the Oskar for gastronomy. They are confirmation and at the same time the obligation for the next year. Confirmation of what we have set out and commitment to what comes. Because having three stars does not mean that you have arrived. Already on the day after the publication of the Michelin assessment, it is clear: you almost start at zero, and this is also our mindset. The evaluation must never become a matter of course. We are very happy and very happy that we meet the taste and get the level confirmed, but we are also aware that we have to meet the associated responsibility – with this team it has succeeded. The goal achieved, it continues and the door is open to the next year. ”
The Guide Michelin Austria 2025 recommends a total of 82 restaurants with star (s), 43 as Bib Gourmand and 33 Michelin Grüner Stern Restaurants. A star means: worth a stop. Two stars mean: worth a detour. 3 stars mean: worth a trip. The choice of restaurants is on the website https://guide.michelin.com/at/de as well as via Guide MICHELIN App available.
