MCI works council calls for fairness in the new building discussion

Innsbruck (OTS) –

MCI works council chairman Johannes Dickel is concerned that the stubborn and tenacious commitment of those responsible for MCI for the long-decided and indispensable new campus is apparently being ridiculed by some circles.

“Instead of dealing with the pressing problems and compelling arguments for this lighthouse project on the one hand and the failures and wrong decisions on the other that have prevented its implementation to date, I am concerned about the thigh-slapping amusement at the sometimes unacceptable working and study conditions.

This distracts from the real problems, does not do justice to the seriousness of the situation and unfortunately also shows a lack of appreciation for the achievements of the MCI team over the past 30 years and for the importance of the MCI as an international flagship of Tyrol as a science location and as Recognize taxpayers.

It is neither fair nor objectively appropriate to ridicule the common bearers of the bad news – the rectorate, the university staff, the works council and the student body – instead of resolving the causes of the misery. Rather, the unbearable fragmentation, oppressive space shortages, unreasonable temperatures and inefficient rental and adaptation costs should finally be ended with a high-quality campus and the conditions should be created so that the MCI can continue to provide top performance for the Tyrol and Innsbruck location in 30 or more years can ensure national and international recognition, respect and enthusiasm in the higher education sector.”
