At the start of the academic year, MCI welcomes | The Entrepreneurial University® is once again welcoming new students this year as part of a festive MCI welcome event. In addition to information about your studies, high-quality lectures, discussions and valuable exchanges with professors, fellow students, service departments and the ÖH MCI in the fully occupied Dogana of the Congress Innsbruck ensured a successful start to the new semester.
After the welcome from the deputy head of the MCI university college Claudia Mössenlechner and ÖH MCI chairman Julian Pfurtscheller was also called MCI Rector Andreas Altmann The 1,400 first semester students are warmly welcomed to the MCI: “You are one of the lucky people who made it through the admissions process from 4,500 applications from all over the world. Take advantage of this opportunity, set high goals, take responsibility and shape the future. I wish you much success in making your dreams come true!”
This was followed by inspiring lectures and discussions with top international personalities in the business world:
- Greg LavenderExecutive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Intel, Santa Clara/CA, highlighted in his presentation „Standing on the Shoulders of Giants“ the development of computing from the ideas of Pythagoras in the Renaissance and Enlightenment to today’s technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. He advises young people not to let difficult circumstances deter them: “Every new technology and change offers great opportunities for brave and ambitious young people. The future belongs to you!”
- Benedikt BöhmCEO of Dynafit, Extreme Mountaineer and WWF Ambassador, inspired the students with his talk “Out of the Deathzone – Succeeding in Mountaineering and Business”. In this he drew impressive parallels between his two passions, extreme sports, with climbing eight-thousanders and skiing without oxygen, and his company. The key to success lies in the right preparation, the art of omission, precisely coordinated steps and the ability to adapt quickly – both on the mountain and in business.
The end of an all-round successful welcome event was a get-together in a great atmosphere with the opportunity to get to know each other, exchange ideas and have exciting thoughts about your studies as well as professional and entrepreneurial projects.
