Mayor Michael Ludwig visits Wiener Research Festival

Today the starting signal for the Vienna Research Festival in the town hall was given. At over 30 interactive stations, companies, universities and universities of applied sciences present new inventions and research from Vienna. Mayor Michael Ludwig attended the major event and was enthusiastic about the diversity and innovative strength of the Vienna research landscape:

“Vienna is Austria’s strongest strength in research. With over 1,700 research institutions and around 50,000 employees, research and science not only bring the latest developments directly to people. They also create high -quality jobs for the Viennese population”.

The mayor used his visit to invite all Viennese for the research festival: “The research festival offers young people the unique opportunity to discover future jobs for themselves and to learn what opportunities they offer a career in Vienna’s research. I would like to invite everyone to take this great opportunity,” said Mayor Ludwig on his tour.

Tomorrow and on Sunday the town hall is open for young and old from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On site, guests get exciting insights into future -oriented technologies – from artificial intelligence to sustainable urban development to new methods in medicine. At each station, the inventions can be tried out to illustrate science from Vienna and the importance for everyday life: from nursing robots to a sizes of survival to the cell phone that learns to smell, everything is included.

Scientists answer the questions of the audience

The dynamic research landscape in Vienna improves urban infrastructure, promotes sustainable solutions for daily life and creates new jobs. At the Vienna Research Festival there are over 200 researchers, specialists and technology enthusiasts from the different disciplines on site to answer all questions about their inventions. The research festival makes science accessible to everyone and inspires the next generation for a profession in research.

The Vienna Research Festival is an initiative of the Vienna Economic Agency and takes place in cooperation with the Vienna Industrial Association.
