Vienna (OTS) – May 5th is Inclusion Day, an important occasion to emphasize the importance of integrating people with different abilities and backgrounds. The Vienna social services use this day to draw attention to their work in the area of inclusion and to send a strong signal for an inclusive society.
In Vienna, Vienna’s social services have been committed to promoting inclusion and creating a barrier-free environment for all citizens for 78 years. Through a variety of projects and measures, they help ensure that people with disabilities, older people and people who have experienced or are experiencing mental illness can participate in social life on an equal and self-determined basis.

The work of the Vienna social services is characterized by respect, appreciation and regard for each individual person and their life experiences. This approach is also anchored in the internal mission statement and applies to all areas. Maintaining and promoting independence and self-determination is always the priority.
For over 30 years, the basic support classes have been an incomparable offer that enables school-age children and young people of school age who are severely disabled and dependent on care to attend school at no cost to their parents.
In addition, the Vienna social services offer mobile care for people who have experienced or are experiencing a mental illness in the area of partially assisted living. This includes practical and everyday support, which takes place at individual meetings in your own home or in the site offices as well as in the form of accompaniment in public spaces. The focus is on creating a sustainable, long-term and professional relationship.
Mobile occupational therapy from the Vienna social services improves the quality of life for older people with limited ability to act who would like to live as independently as possible at home.
In the area of care and support, the geriatric and nursing services in Vienna are the largest providers of mobile services. The range of services includes home help, home nursing, visiting services, everyday support lasting several hours and shared apartments for seniors. The offers at the Anton Benya day center are based on the needs and wishes of the visitors. People with mental illnesses find a place to live in Assisted Living – Kabelwerk. Social participation and interaction in the social environment are a major concern.
