Mavie takes over majority stake in telemedicine provider Telemedi

Mavie takes a step forward in the telemedicine sector and acquires a majority stake in Telemedi, the leading provider of innovative telemedicine solutions in Poland.

Vienna (OTS) Mavie acquires a significant majority stake in Telemedi, the leading provider of telemedicine solutions in Poland. Telemedi is a successful pioneer in the rapidly growing market for telemedicine and has been offering a platform for digital healthcare since 2014. Telemedi’s solutions are available for B2B and B2C customers. As a long-term partner, Mavie is taking a further strategic step in expanding its service portfolio in the attractive growth market of telemedicine. Together, the two companies will grow sustainably, gradually expand the telemedicine portfolio and open up new markets.

TELEMEDICINE – IMPORTANT PART OF FUTURE MEDICAL CARE

Telemedicine has been on everyone’s lips at least since the Corona pandemic. Poland is one of the European pioneering countries that relied on telemedicine at an early stage in order to improve healthcare for the benefit of patients and at the same time make it more affordable. The Austrian healthcare reform will also rely on the digitalization of the healthcare system in the future. The advantages lie in the time and money saved: travel costs are avoided, waiting times are reduced and the risk of infection in local ordinations is minimized. Another important factor is the change in the care system – overloaded outpatient clinics and hospitals and thinned-out primary medical care can be meaningfully compensated for with telemedical services.

Erich Kruschitz, CEO of Mavie, explains the reasons for the investment: “The European telemedicine market is estimated at just over 12 billion euros. It is expected to grow by up to 14% annually until 2027. There is still great potential, especially in Eastern Europe, although Poland has a special position in the region because the country was an early adopter of digital services in medicine. Telemedi is one of the largest local providers of digital health solutions, with a great deal of know-how about which telemedicine solutions are relevant and how they can best reach patients. The company has shown considerable growth in recent years. We see a lot of shared potential in expanding and strengthening Telemedi’s portfolio through our existing services, but also in expanding into other markets beyond Poland. We also see opportunities for Austria to work with partners to bring Telemedi’s know-how to patients.

In Poland, telemedicine is an important pillar of healthcare. 80% of Poles trust it. We have been active in this area since 2014 and have great experience in what is needed and accepted by patients. More than 300,000 patients rely on our services and we process around half a million medical inquiries every year. We are now a trustworthy partner for business customers, private customers and public health providers. I am pleased that we have a partner in Mavie to strengthen our base and bring our know-how to other markets“, adds Paweł Sieczkiewicz, founder and CEO of Telemedi.

Lukas Mayrl, Managing Director of Mavie, concludes: “Telemedicine has become increasingly important in recent years. Services can range from rapid initial health assessments to care for chronic illnesses and even electronic sick notes. The applications are diverse. However, the main principle is to provide patients with the medical solutions they need. We see telemedicine as a good and sensible addition to traditional medical care and an innovative offer that can close gaps and problem areas in current health care in the future. Since Mavie’s goal is to motivate and support people throughout their lives to maintain and improve their health, we are pleased to broaden our portfolio with Telemedi. Together with our MavieMe home tests, we are once again taking a step towards bringing health home, where people are, in a low-threshold way.
