The Axel Corti Prize awarded as part of the 57th television prize of adult education from the Conference of the Adult Education of Austria (Kebö) goes to actress Maria Hofstätter this year. On May 6, 2025, this decided a jury that is made up of representatives of the price -founding associations, journalists and a media scientist.
Maria Hofstätter’s career began in the cabaret and on theater stages in Austria and Germany, before they became known to a wide audience with films such as ‘India’ (1993) and ‘Hundstage’ (2001). It participated in two productions that were nominated for the 57th television award of adult education: “Uprising in the brothel – women’s trade around 1900” (category of human rights and society) and “A Better Place” (category of economic, democratic and political education). In parallel to her film career, she has been involved in the Vorarlberg project theater since 1995 and is committed to democracy, freedom of art and justice, most recently as part of the “for the Republic” initiative. Hofstätter has received several awards, including the Austrian Film Award (2014, 2022, 2024), the German Schauspiel Prize (2021) and the Romy (2022).
Jury spokesman John Evers emphasizes: “It is a special pleasure for me to be able to distinguish an actress who is committed both in society and is always active in adult education.”
The Axel Corti Prize and also the television prices of adult education are awarded by the ten associations of the Conference of Adult Education in Austria (Kebö), which are the Working Group on the Bildungshäuser Austria, the Austria’s professional development institute, the Austria’s Library Association, the Forum Catholic Adult Education in Austria, the rural training institute Austria, the Ring of Austrian Bilding Works, Economic Society, the Association, the Association, the Association Austrian trade union education, the association of Austrian adult education centers and the economic development institute of the Austria Chamber of Commerce.
The price overcoming of the Axel Corti Prize will take place on June 16, 2025 in the ORF Radioculture House in Vienna, in which the winners of the 57th television prices of adult education are also announced. We ask for a quick registration for the pricing by email to mediapreise@vhs.or.at.
