Mahrer on festival weeks: Provocation at the expense of taxpayers and security!

Art installation shows police officers drunk and sleeping on the ground – causing uncertainty among the public despite the increased danger

Vienna (OTS) This year’s Vienna Festival is characterized by massive provocations against the rule of law and democracy. State party chairman City Councilor Karl Mahrer is concerned: “The fact that police officers are shown drunk and sleeping as part of an “art installation” on the day of the funeral of 29-year-old police officer Rouven Laur is another crossing of the boundaries of the Vienna Festival. Especially now, when thousands of people are being protected by the police during the Pride parade.”

You can see in the photo: In various places, small groups of “police officers” are lying drunk and sleeping on the ground in front of the Vienna Museum Quarter. For Mahrer, financing such a presentation with tax money is unacceptable.

Finally, Mahrer makes it clear: “Police officers risk their lives for the safety of those around them. We are grateful for the important work of the police in Vienna and clearly distance ourselves from such derogatory “art installations” by the Wiener Festwochen!”
