Lower Austrian road service is working hard to find safe routes for emergency services
St.Pölten (OTS) –

The Lower Austrian road service has 1,800 employees in disaster relief operations. “The top priority at the moment is to organize safe routes for the emergency services to the crisis regions and communities so that the rescue chain works and the population can be helped,” informs Lower Austrian Transport State Councilor LH Deputy Udo Landbauer. In addition to signposting diversion routes, slipped embankments are secured, broken trees are removed and blockages on road bridges are solved.

“Every location should be accessible to the blue light organizations at least via a driveway. We are working hard on this,” says Lower Austrian road construction director DI Josef Decker.

There are currently 256 roadblocks for normal traffic, the majority of which are in the Waldviertel, Mostviertel and Tullnerfeld. “We are constantly trying to reduce the number of road closures and open where it is safe to do so,” said Decker.
