Lower Austrian Jessica Pilz climbs to bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris

Climbing ace Jessica Pilz wins Austria’s fifth medal at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024! After sixth place in bouldering, the Lower Austrian made it into the medal ranks with a strong performance in the lead, thus securing the third Olympic medal with Lower Austrian participation.

Pilz initially reached two of the top four in bouldering and created a good starting position with 59.3 points in the combined bouldering and lead competition. In the lead, the vice world champion then managed to place second with 88.1 points, which meant she managed to improve to third place with 147.4 total points.

“Congratulations to Jessica Pilz! She always maintained her belief in her strength and rewarded herself with a jump into the medal ranks. With bronze at the Olympic Games, she once again underlined her status as one of the most successful Austrian sport climbers of all time and wrote blue and yellow sports history. “The whole of Lower Austria is proud and bows to this outstanding achievement,” congratulates Lower Austria State Sports Councilor LH-Deputy Landbauer.

The 27-year-old climbing icon from Hague in Lower Austria was able to achieve an excellent 7th place at the last Olympic Games and achieved great results at major international events with a European Championship and World Championship title. With the Olympic medal, the multiple national champion has now achieved another milestone in her outstanding career.
