Lower Austrian Advent magic opens in the heart of Vienna

Lower Austrian Advent magic opens in the heart of Vienna
St. Pölten (OTS) –

Today, Friday, it was that time again: the inner courtyard shone in Christmas splendor, it smelled of mulled wine and hearty Gröstl when the ceremony began at 4 p.m. and the 16th “This is how Lower Austria tastes” Advent market was officially opened. State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf and cathedral priest Toni Faber were allowed to do the same as the children in the bakery and were invited by presenter Silvia Schneider to conjure up baking mixes on stage, which were then promptly given away to the audience.

State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasized: “Visiting the ‘This is how Lower Austria tastes’ Advent market has become a beloved tradition. Every year we come together here on the first weekend of Advent and get in the mood for Christmas. Especially today, when more and more people are worried that our beautiful country is losing its identity due to other cultural influences, it is even more important to maintain our Christian traditions and customs. We are also proud of our regions, choirs, brass music, our crafts and regional delicacies and we show this at the Advent market in the Palais Niederösterreich.”

LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf didn’t miss the opportunity to bring the exhibitors of the Advent market to the curtain: “The heart of the ‘This is how Lower Austria tastes’ Advent market are the farms that cook in the inner courtyard and thus offer a true variety of enjoyment to take away. The Advent market is the largest exhibition in the country: 40 companies from all districts exhibit here.”

The “This is how Lower Austria tastes” Advent market is open on Saturday, November 30th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and invites everyone to the unique ambience of the Palais Niederösterreich (Herrengasse 13, 1010 Vienna). In addition to delicacies, there are also tasty handicrafts, contemplative choirs and brass bands, as well as a bakery for children. Free guided tours of the historic building are offered on Saturday – registration takes place at the “This is how Lower Austria tastes” information stand.

As part of the Advent market, “This is how Lower Austria tastes” is holding a pre-Christmas competition. Simply answer the winning question on www.soschmecktnoe.at and with a bit of luck you can win a cooking course, tavern vouchers or a Lower Austria CARD!
