Longtime Filipino nurses and midwives in Vienna are celebrating 50 years of service

Filipino nurses and midwives who arrived in Vienna in 1974 will mark their 50th anniversary with a big celebration in Vienna City Hall on September 28, 2024 commit. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said, “Your 50th anniversary reflects your significant contribution to the healthcare system and prosperity of your new homeland.” Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Johannes Rauch, BM for Social Affairs/Health/Care/Consumer Protection, sent their congratulations. Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas, Philippine Ambassador said: “The recently signed new agreements between the Philippines and Vienna, as well as with Austria Labor cooperation are a testament to the lasting legacy you helped create.” Vienna’s City Councilor for Social Affairs/Health/Sport, Peter Hacker, who will take part in the celebrationsaid: “Your service to the Vienna health system is invaluable. For 50 years, you have provided care and comfort to countless people and have had a profound impact on the health and well-being of our citizens. Vienna is proud to celebrate this important anniversary with you.”
