Lidl Austria increases starting salary to 2,400 euros and improves apprentice salaries

Best starting salary in retail

Salzburg, Austria (OTS) After the employees’ collective agreement for the Austrian retail sector was adjusted and the minimum wage was increased, the local food retailer is going one step further as of January 1, 2024 and is raising the starting salary significantly above the new collective agreement.

The new collective agreement for commercial employees provides for a starting monthly salary of at least 2,124 euros. Lidl Austria will pay a minimum salary on a full-time basis of 2,400 euros from January 1, 2024, which corresponds to an overpayment of 13% compared to the collective agreement and an increase of a full 200 euros to the previous Lidl starting salary for employees in branches. Furthermore, a voluntary overpayment of at least 5% on top of the applicable collective agreement applies to all Lidl Austria employees!

Above-average apprentice salary: 1,200 euros in the first year of training!

Also from January, a new starting salary of 1,200 euros will apply for the first year of training! The second year of training will bring 1,350 euros with an increase in September, the third even 1,720 euros.

Attractive success bonuses also await the future specialists and managers, such as a subsidy for a B driving license for good performance, a bonus of up to 300 euros for a particularly good annual certificate or a joint training trip worth 500 euros. All apprentices in the branches also receive an iPad for their training, which they can keep after completing their apprenticeship.

As a further benefit, all apprentices will be able to make free phone calls for the entire duration of their apprenticeship starting in February: every new apprentice will receive a SIM card for the “Lidl Connect Black” tariff including credit for three full years.

After graduating, many of the former apprentices are already part of the management teams in the branches and working as trained branch assistants.

The next start date for apprentice training at Lidl Austria will take place in February 2024. Individual apprenticeship positions are still available and applications can easily be made online.
