“With ‘Dental Health Day’ we are strengthening the prevention awareness of the self-employed and drawing attention to the importance of dental health as part of our ‘Smiling Together’ campaign,” says Peter Lehner, chairman of the social insurance for the self-employed. “Dental Health Day” takes place between October 14th and 17th at the SVS state offices.
“Smiling together” is the SVS’s prevention initiative in 2024. “All insured people who go to the dentist this year will receive a 100 euro bonus,” explains Lehner and continues: “The 100 euro bonus is for an incentive for insured persons to actively deal with their own health and to exercise their own initiative and personal responsibility.” The bonus can be claimed once for dental treatment in 2024. It applies to everyone who has health insurance with SVS and to their co-insured relatives.
On “Dental Health Day” you can find out more about the “Smile Together” health campaign and register straight away. “We also offer information about our digital service svsGo. In order to use svsGo’s services optimally and securely, you need the ID Austria. If you don’t have this yet, you can have it activated straight away on ‘Dental Health Day’,” explains Lehner. “Prevention transformation, together with digital transformation, is crucial for a future-proof, modern and efficient healthcare system. We would like to use this opportunity to promote both,” emphasizes the SVS chairman.
Last year, only around 37 percent of SVS insured people went to the dentist. The SVS paid 87 million euros for dental treatment and 32 million euros for dentures. Since January, over 74,000 insured people have taken advantage of the bonus. “Dental health is part of comprehensive and sustainable prevention. Healthy teeth are important for overall health, well-being and quality of life. “If you go to the dentist regularly, you can prevent pain and lengthy and costly treatments,” concludes Lehner.
