St. Pölten (OTS) – The most popular brass band in Lower Austria was searched for over three weeks at the “Radio NÖ Brass Music Contest”. The title goes to the Langau band near Geras. With 75,033 votes, the musicians brought victory to the Waldviertel. As a prize, they will receive a two-day, professional sound recording in Lower Austria radio quality.
A total of 26 brass bands from all parts of Lower Austria took part in the “Brass Music Contest”. Her task was to play a Lower Austrian radio hit with her band and submit a video of it. Voting was possible online in three weeks of evaluation. In the first week, the Engabrunn music club was at the top, and first place in the second week went to the Traismauer music club. In total, more than 625,000 votes were cast. ORF Lower Austria regional director Alexander Hofer: “The participation was overwhelming and the fan base of the local brass bands showed how large and active it is. We are very pleased that our initiative was so well received and that we were able to show how diverse brass music is in Lower Austria.”
In June, all three bands come to St. Pölten for a twilight drink in the marquee at the ORF NÖ radio station. Langau, Engabrunn and Traismauer will not only celebrate, but also perform. Radio NÖ will record the performances and will broadcast a morning pint special from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd with the best pieces from the three bands.
Radio NÖ would like to thank all brass bands for their commitment, diligent rehearsals and recordings and wishes them continued enjoyment in making music.
