KV private hospitals: agreement after lengthy negotiations

Vienna (OTS) At the sixth meeting on May 21st, after difficult rounds of negotiations, an agreement was reached on the collective agreement for private hospitals. The attractive offer from the employers, which is well above the inflation rate and brings a significant increase in real wages, was ultimately the decisive factor. The collective income will come into force retroactively on April 1, 2024 and will be valid at least until the end of 2025.

The employer side of the union had already presented an extremely attractive offer in the first round of negotiations on February 8th. Nevertheless, it took a total of six negotiation dates until a conclusion could be reached on May 21st. General Secretary and head of negotiations for the Association of Private Hospitals, Mag. Stefan Günther, is satisfied with the result: “With the adjustments, we have sent another clear signal for the attractiveness of professions in the health sector and are thus taking on the responsibility of private health companies as an irreplaceable part of the entire health system.”

The most important details of the KV degree

The collective agreement, which comes into force retroactively on April 1st, brings an increase in collective agreement wages and salaries of 9.15% for the 2024 calendar year. An increase of CPI plus 0.45% is planned for 2025. The night, Sunday and public holiday allowances will be increased by a total of 62% in 2024 and 2025, and the allowances for specialists and general practitioners will be increased across the board to 800 euros. From 2025 onwards, relevant previous service periods will be recognized indefinitely and loyal employees will be granted up to two additional days of holiday depending on their length of service. “All in all, the agreement will already be well above the determined inflation in 2024 and, when viewed as a whole over the term up to 2025, for some people it will even result in compensation for inflation at the amount of twice the inflation,” explains Stefan Günther in conclusion.
