KV Chemical Industry: Negotiations interrupted again

Now company meetings and decisions on combat measures

Vienna (OTS) The collective bargaining negotiations for the approximately 50,000 employees in the chemical industry did not result in an agreement in the fifth round of negotiations.

“Employers’ latest offer of an average 4.61 percent wage and salary increase is still well below the average inflation rate of the last 12 months. In five rounds of negotiations there was only one movement by employers in the per thousand range. This offer causes outrage among works councils and employees. It is completely incomprehensible and economically inexplicable why, in contrast to other sectors in the spring round, no conclusion based on the inflation rate should be possible in the chemical industry of all places,” say the chief negotiators Alfred Artmäuer (PRO-GE) and Günther Gallistl (GPA union). .

The union members also see the fact that the employers do not offer any further negotiation dates for over three weeks as an affront. This means that employees have to wait for a wage and salary increase.

“Today we received the support of works councils across Austria. Starting tomorrow, company meetings will be called again and then union action measures will be decided,” said Artmäuer and Gallistl.

A further hearing date was not agreed until June 6th.
