Last week, representatives of the Kufstein Tyrol University of Applied Sciences and the International School Kufstein (ISK) Tirol State Governor Anton Mattle, District Governor Dr. Kurt Berek and Kufstein’s mayor Mag. Martin Krumschnabel welcomed people to an exchange about regional educational interests at the education campus in Kufstein. The focus of the meeting was discussions about the current situation in the education sector on the Kufstein campus as well as the intensification of synergies between the ISK, the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences and other educational institutions in Tyrol.
Promote collaboration
“The increased cooperation underlines the importance of Kufstein as an educational location,” says FH managing director Prof. (FH) Dr. Thomas Madritsch. In a presentation he gave together with Rector Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller through the new, forward-looking courses and innovative research projects. The chairman of the foundation board, Dr. Herbert Marschitz. Afterwards, ISK director Ian Barnes and ISK managing director Mag. (FH) Walter Weiskopf reported on the unique school educational offerings and the international orientation. ISK Tirol offers consistent, high-quality and globally accredited training for students aged ten to 18. “With this expansion, the successful development of the ISK and the university of applied sciences will also be continued spatially,” says the chairman of the foundation advisory board Komm.-Rat Hans K. Reisch.
Kufstein as an educational location
Mayor Mag. Martin Krumschnabel emphasized the importance of expanding the educational and school offerings in Tyrol’s second largest city. The campus at the city park is growing: around 340 students are now taught at the ISK and the university of applied sciences received 25 additional study places from the Federal Ministry last year. “Our most important raw material is the knowledge and skills of the Tyroleans. Educational institutions such as the International School Kufstein Tirol and the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences do great work here,” said Governor Anton Mattle with pleasure in coming to Kufstein. “From the right to child education and childcare to dual training and the university landscape – Tyrol is a thriving educational location. The Kufstein educational institutions in particular make a significant contribution to this.”
Opening of the new premises in the Gallhaus
The highlight of the event was the opening and tour of the new premises of the educational campus in Gallhaus. Numerous guests of honor, including the founding father of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Walter J. Mayr, and the former chairman of the foundation board, Dr. Siegfried Dillersberger, marveled at the new one Center of Arts and Science the ISK Tirol, which extends over two levels. In addition to specialized classrooms for visual arts, music and theater as well as a biology laboratory, it also houses a multi-purpose room including a bouldering wall, which is available outside of the state music school’s school hours for dance lessons and for ÖH sports. The new building also houses the Josef Ressel Center for Multimedia Analysis in Mobility, which opened in 2023.
Dr. In his remarks, Marschitz emphasized the important role of the two Kufstein lighthouse projects – the Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences and the International School Kufstein Tirol. In particular, the founding years and the extremely positive development of both institutions since then are exemplary for innovation and educational quality in the region.
Marschitz also expressly thanked the city of Kufstein, the state of Tyrol and the federal government for their financial support. This has made it possible to create an inspiring and future-oriented learning environment that offers ISK students and students at the Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences the best conditions for their personal and professional development.
