“It is a scandal that the SPÖ’s votes at the meeting of the Meidlingen district council rejected the removal of a memorial plaque to the millionaire mass murderer Josef Stalin. Stalin was responsible for millions of deaths, gulags, political oppression and untold suffering. The fact that the SPÖ in Meidling doesn’t seem to mind this is a moral low point and shows how far the comrades have strayed from the basic values of a democratic society,” said the Viennese FPÖ club chairman Maximilian Krauss.
Krauss announces that the FPÖ will submit a similar motion to the Vienna City Council next Tuesday. “We expect SPÖ Mayor Ludwig to rethink his position. It is unacceptable that Vienna, as a city of human rights, tolerates a memorial plaque for Stalin. The rejection by the SPÖ in Meidling is a disgrace for democracy and for all the victims who suffered under Stalin. The removal of this memorial plaque is long overdue,” emphasizes Krauss.
