On Friday morning, the first ten candidates have symbolically signed on the list for the municipal council for all KPÖ and left-wing candidates: a “contract with the population”. Barbara Urbanic, KPÖ top candidate for the Vienna election, explains: “We do not make politics for the interests of a few super-rich and also not for our own wallet. We understand politics as a service to the population. We consistently have the interests of the Viennese: inside that cannot be directed through your bank account.”
The candidate: Inside, undertaking in the contract to “use all means that the companies of the City of Vienna also operate in favor of the Viennese population, and the profits of city companies are used transparently and in the sense of the majority of Viennese”. Barbara Urbanic explains that the city government with its companies such as Vienna Energie and Wiener Wohnen has the best conditions to convert Vienna into the socially just city that is needed. “Vienna Energy belongs to the city of Vienna. It is time for companies that belong to us Wiener: inside, also work for us instead of getting record profits at our expense.” Despite great profits, Vienna Energie would currently not do in the interest of the Viennese: inside.
In addition, the candidate undertakes: inside not to agree to any privatization of public property. “Anyone who privatizes public property shifts the decision -making power about this property from the democratic process to investors and super -rich,” explains Barbara Urbanic. The consequences of privatizations are even more expensive prices in various areas of life. “Again and again it turns out that the private market fails – when it comes to living as well as food supply. Living and eating are basic needs that should not be subject to the interest of a few. Existing public property is a betrayal of the population. The interests of the vast majority are thus sold to super -rich,” explains Barbara Urbanic.
The third and last point is in the contract that all mandatar: inside the common list only keep an average skilled worker wage (currently 2,500ꞓ net), and release the rest of people in emergencies. “Sevaversed salaries lead to withdrawal politics. We are convinced that the circumstances influence people. If we want to make politics in the interests of the general public, we cannot withhold more than the majority has available,” explains Barbara Urbanic. The politics of the established parties show that the politicians: Inside with their princely salaries there are no more flair for the worries of the majority in society.
